Be comfortable with who you are

“Be comfortable with who you are!” That’s the title of the Podcast from Joel Osteen, my favourite message that I have listened over and over. The message is about how we can be comfortable with how God made us to be!

Have you ever felt not belong to a certain community? Feeling as if you’re an ugly goose in the middle of ducks, an introvert in the middle of extroverts.

That’s what I felt recently, an introvert in the middle of all my housemates who are extroverts. While I’m so tired after work and relate with people, I have to see all my flatmates are in the happy mode enjoying talking and laughing to one another. Most of the time, I can’t keep up with them and staying by myself in my room. Sometimes, the inferior feeling is just overwhelming.

Should you feel inferior just because you’re an introvert?

We always feel inferior when we are comparing our weakness to others’ strength. Don’t you think that it is just does not match?

Joel Osteen also emphasizes that… when we are not comfortable with who we are, we will never be able to celebrate someone who is ahead of us. That is why it is very important to celebrate yourself, enjoying your flaws.

Maybe you’re not going to be that great in relating with people as extrovert do, but will you be able to be the best introvert you can be? Only when you’re maximizing the talent that you have right now, you’ll be growing to do more beyond your comfort zone. God will give you more talent when you’re responsible with the talents you have.

Recently I read few quotes that somehow prepares me for today, to again being comfortable of who I am, and focusing on my strength.

   I’m half introvert, half extrovert, and it’s always annoyed me that our society thinks introverts are somehow inferior. I don’t buy that. I married an introvert, and we have a great life. I love your site…you’re doing great work. Keep it up!

   At the end of the day, introvert/extravert to me is just a style/preference, nothing more to it than that. I land in the middle of the scale, sometimes i swing to the left, sometimes to the right, and i’m totally comfortable with wherever.

   It doesn’t matter if i prefer red or I like blue, doesn’t matter if I favor sweet than sour, categorising people according to their preference and make comparison to draw superiority/inferiority is a rather narrow minded way of judging…

   I agree with you, introvert is just a preference, introvert has strength as well, that’s why we’re not supposed to feel inferior because of that.

   Hi Wyatt, that’s a sign of maturity, where you can balance between them, wherever we land into, we need to learn first to understand the opposite character, and second to balance our character with their strength. It’s about expanding our comfort zone.
