Generous Cleaner
October 1, 2007
Generous cleaner! She is the evening cleaner in my office. A widow with 2 sons, both are secondary students. To make the ends meet, she has to take 2 jobs a day, one in the morning and another in the evening, in my office. She has even worked for almost 24 hours a day, but couldn’t stand it and fell sick.
Yet she’s so generous, though she just knew me, she gave me many snacks to eat, bread, curry puff, etc. And last week, she came to our office with 2 big bowls of spicy mee siam. This time, not only for me, but for about two third of our office staffs of about 20 people.
She even promised us to bring us her special fried chicken and many more foods for all of us.
What a generous cleaner, in spite of her difficulties, she has been very-very generous. Even me, an executive engineer need to learn a lot about generosity from her.
A quote on generosity from John Maxwell:
Sometimes we hold on to our possesions because we fear we might run out-life seems scarce. But when we believe that giving is the way to live, we will produce more in the future-life seems abundant.
